CAN HE TEACH ME TO JUGGLE?!

“When I’m performing my two goals are to give a consistently solid show and present my personal style of juggling. I'd love to share what I know about these two objectives.” — J. D'Eustachio

JUGGLING TECHNIQUE:

Do you wonder, am I making progress with my juggling? How can I tell? Let’s work on practicing juggling efficiently, and with a sense of fun. We’ll explore different ways of breaking the tricks you want to learn into bite sized chunks, and creating fun longer term goals.  We’ll also look at different juggling warm ups and technique exercises that will help you with every trick you want to learn.

JUGGLING ARTISTRY:

How do you even begin creating your own juggling style?  I’d love to help you along this path.  Let’s discover  different ways of creating new juggling tricks, both solo and for groups.  To do this, we will use both physical starting points (our bodies, and the space around us) and mental starting points (our daily routines, stories we’re interested in telling through juggling, different emotions, and musical rhythms).  As we grow more comfortable creating tricks, we’ll begin exploring how to sequence both new and old tricks and the process for putting together a successful juggling act.

SAMPLE LESSON

“Jacob’s private instruction on ball bouncing was extremely helpful and thorough. He very quickly identified my goals and helped me to reach them as quickly as possible. He utilized the time well, balancing instruction and practice time in a way that made me feel like I got the most out of just one lesson.”
– Michael Karas (Professional juggler, the Flying Karamazov Brothers)

“As someone who failed to teach himself, I can honestly attest to Jacob’s superb talent at teaching Juggling! The way he broke down the skills necessary allowed me to create a very solid foundation. He is also extremely adaptable, which I noticed as he tried to teach people at different levels. He is truly a wonderful teacher!”

– Guillermo Alonso (Actor, Notre Dame Shakespeare Festival )

“Jacob split his time evenly among technical exercises, experiments in creativity and group activities that were challenging and fun… No one was left behind in the work. Not only were the exercises applicable to all levels of skill but Jacob made time to work with everyone on a one-on-one basis. He seemed to tailor the lessons to each student while at the same time bringing us along as a group… He also showed some fantastic ways to rediscover fun and joy in something that can, at times, be frustrating. The workshop was engaging and fun, and the few days following my attendance saw marked improvement in my juggling. I would recommend a class with Jacob to a juggler at any level.”

– Alex Trendler (Juggling workshop participant, Brooklyn, New York)

“More than just juggling, Jacob encourages students to sweat through barriers and enter a next dimension of practice. No matter what skill level is the starting point, new jugglers and advanced jugglers will refine something old, learn something new, or ultimately, get inspired to invent new tricks and develop a unique juggling style.”

– Heather Campbell (Juggling workshop participant, Brooklyn NY)

“Jacob isn't just an awesome juggler but he is a master teacher. He was smiling and enthusiastic from the start and his energy level was contagious throughout the workshop…I would recommend Jacob to anyone regardless if they are challenged like me with three balls or are already juggling six and are looking to create a new show like one or two the others in my same group."

– Alan K. (Juggling workshop participant, Brooklyn NY)

“Jacob D’Eustachio is a uniquely gifted juggler who has quickly entered the top 10% of professional jugglers working today. He has worked with the National Circus Project conducting circus workshops and directing student circus productions, both with excellence and professionalism. As Executive Director of the National Circus Project and as a circus professional for 37 years, it is my opinion that Mr. D’Eustachio would be a valuable asset to any production and any circus education program.”

– Greg Milstein (Executive Director, The National Circus Project )

“Jacob joined us for the 2023 Rochester Fringe festival and provided a juggling master class to our 7th and 9th grade Drama majors. His classes were well received by students and teachers. He was able to get and keep the students’s attention and worked in small groups and individually with students for the 40 minutes classes. Each presentation was ended by Jacob showing how “easy” it is to add more balls and to keep them in the air. We were all impressed!  I would recommend Jacob for master classes for students of all ages!”

– Andrea DeBellis Gregoire (Arts Center Director, School of the Arts, Rochester NY)

“I write to recommend Jacob D'Eustachio as an amazing teacher of juggling and other circus arts. He would be excellent to hire for an after-school program or an elective class. In December, he gave a short performance followed by a Q and A session for our students. The performance was amazing, but I was more impressed by his give and take with our students afterwards. He listened to them closely and respectfully, and his responses were quirky and provoked students to ask more. A few days later, Jacob ran a two hour after-school workshop teaching juggling to a group of about 12 students, all of different skill levels. They unanimously told me it was an excellent class. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. And check out his website (jacobde.com) to see his amazing work!
